Tower lifeboat was launched to the report of a 61 year old female on board a vessel who had fallen and broken her ankle.

The vessel was in the Battersea area at the time of the fall and passed information to say the vessel would be making best speed for Millbank Pier. Tower Lifeboat met the boat in the Chelsea area and three crew members went aboard. After initial assessment, it was deemed that the casualty’s ankle was broken and that evacuation to hospital would be necessary. A request was made through London Coastguard for an Ambulance to meet the vessel at Millbank Pier.

Crew from Tower Lifeboat administered entonox and provided support to the casualty’s ankle until the ambulance arrived and duty of care was handed over to them. The three crew members from Tower Lifeboat remained with the casualty and assisted the ambulance crew in the safe evacuation of the casualty.

Once the casualty had been safely loaded into the ambulance Tower Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
